U.S.A. Texas

I am moving to Texas as a new graduate and I would like to ask you guys where can I apply( which hospital?) and what is the stating payment for new nurses in Dallas, Tx?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Moved to the Texas state forum

ASN or BSN?

Do you know where you are going to live? The Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex is huge with many smaller cities within it.

Do you have a means of support before you get a job?

Do you have your Texas license yet?

Dallas/ Ft Worth is a highly competitive market. If you have a BSN it helps a lot, but their are a few that hire ASN's, but they may have 50+ applicants for a single position.

I do not know off hand which ones since I am not in the area, but a few threads here talk about it.

Seems I have read new grad pay around there is in the $23-25 range?

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

Yes, that's correct. And due to the glut of nurses in the area, most of the major hospital systems around here have resorted to hiring nurses with BSN degrees only.

Parkland has a lot of nursing positions available. I dont believe they care if you have ADN. I heard you will need your BSN later on. I think they give you 3 years to complete the program but I think that's going to happen once the new hospital is built.
