New to Everything!!!

Hi Everyone~

I want to introduce myself. My name is Kara and I am 44 y.o. I live in Western PA and I am embarking on a journey that is exciting and scary~I am sure many of you have felt this before starting as well.

I am registering for my prereq's this spring semester at the university near my home. I will hopefully begin the ASN (RN) program in Fall 2009.

I am quitting a nice job as a loan officer to pursue a career as a nurse. I just feel this calling and know that this is what I am supposed to be doing at this time in my life. My husband and I would like to relocate to a larger city and I am glad to know that I will certainly be able to find work if we decide to do this.

When I asked my son, who is 11, what he thought about me becoming a nurse he said, "I won't be able to stay home from school and pretend to be sick anymore:rolleyes:"

Anyway~I can't wait to start school and to join in on this great forum. I am excited to begin a new chapter and am ready for the challenge of nursing school and all that it has to bring.

Thanks to all who responded!

I only have three prereqs and hopefully I will be accepted into the nursing program at that point.

I hope to meet many great nurses to be. What a wonderful board and what seems like a great group of people. I look forward to getting to know many of you better.

Blessings to you all.

Welcome Kit2011 !! I visit this board often, and there sure are some smart and intelligent people here..I wish there had been a place like this when I was in Nursing the first time (I quit). I bet I don't live too far from you :p...I am going back on forth on whether to re-try Nursing, or go the Medical Billing/Coding Route. Anyway, very nice to have you here :wink2:

Welcome and good luck in your journey, sure it will be fun and these boards are a great resource!
