New to the area..can you help me?

Hi, i will be moving from FLL in a few days to the Bronx to stay with my family so i can get help while i go to school. Does anyone know of any PART TIME RN nursing schools in New York or New Jersey that i can start in JANUARY(08)? I just completed an AA degree with a 3.06(yikes) and i have completed all the pre-nursing classes......

I have called a few schools and they are telling me that i have to either live in the county or at least complete 3 credits at the school to even be considered......

I know my GPA sucks so i am also looking into LPN FULL time schools starting in january...thank you all

At Bergen Community College in NJ their evening program starts ion the Spring. You have to have all the prereq's completed, and you would have to pay out of state tuition. Other than that - you would have to check with them. Their web address is www.bergen.edu

The school is close to me, and it takes me only 20 minutes to get to the Bronx Zoo - without traffic. However, attending at night - you will hit the traffic leaving the city - so plan on a long commute.

I think that there is bus from Manhattan to Passaic County College as well. I know someone who just finished his first semester and he likes it. There are a LOT of schools in NY though. I am from NY and have been in NJ for 2 years. I start my RN program this fall and it is a LOT easier to get into a school without a 2-3 year wait in NJ than it is in NY. Its even difficult to get into vocational programs in NY. There are a good number of colleges in the Bronx also. If you want to pay in-state tuition, look in the Bronx, Westchester, Manhattan and Queens. The travel will not be as bad as trying to go to NJ. The transportation system in NY is MUCH better round the clock!!!!!! Good Luck to you!
