? about NET

I failed reading by 2 points (had 58). I took the NET at GCC. I know I have to wait 60 days before I can take it again. My question is, is this rule only for Maricopa CCs? Can I take the NET somewhere else in Arizona? And do I need to wait 60 days from today or can I take it, let's say, next week somewhere else?

Thanks. I just sent you a PM. Good luck!

thanks paralegal :) i will let you know how it goes...

where are you planning on attending school?

I am applying at Gateway, but I am very flexible with where I can go. Hopefully, that will be to my benefit.

So, did you take the NET. If so, how did it go and any suggestions for me? Thanks.

paralegal: so i took the NET yesterday at rio salado. it took about 2 1/2 hours. i passed with a 89% composite

there were a couple math problems that i had NO idea how to solve, and were NOT on any of the practice tests or review books i used for study. I'm bad at math, so if you're like me just brush up on these before you take it! they looked something like this:

1 4/7 = (?)% x 6 9/11

there were a few like this and i couldn't figure them out.

also, they had some like

1.24 is what % of 5 3/5

those were just annoying.

then some of the questions didn't specify whether or not to reduce the fractions, and both the fraction and its reduced self were on the answers. so i just reduced the first, kept the 2nd the same, reduced the 3rd, etc. atleast then i would have gotten half correct!

the test i took actually DID have some science questions, but only like 7 or 8. i just guessed on those and flew through them as they don't even count.

good luck with the test, let me know when you plan on taking it and if you need any help!

My biggest concern is the reading comprehension part. The questions, the timing, etc. How was that?

I appreciate the information. Thank you!

the reading comprehension is exactly like the practice test on testprepreview.com, except on the NET you read a paragraph, answer a question, read another paragraph, answer another question. only a few of the paragraphs have 2 or 3 questions following them. so it is more reading than on the practice tests, but its also a lot easier.

have you decided when you're going to take it??

I think I will be taking the test this weekend. I still have not received my fingerprint clearance card back yet, but that should be in the mail soon. Thank you again for all the great information. :) I will let you know after I take it. I am really nervous. I do not do standardized testing very well.

Thanks for the info on the NET test you two. I have been putting it off even though I finished my prerequisites a while ago. I've been too afraid of failing to take it. But, I'm going to shake it off. I've been studying the NET study guide and I'm going to time myself before I take it. That's really my problem, the fact that your timed throws me off. I'm taking it in two weeks and my attitude is I'm going to pass and once I do I'll be turning my application in immediately following the test! Then it will be the waiting game but, I'm pretty flexible.

I took it this past Saturday. The math was fine and the timing of the math portion is not an issue. Just make sure you watch your time for the reading part. I wrote down when I started, so I knew where I was at for my time. Some of the passages are a little long, but not too long. You will do fine! Good luck.

Congratulations! Have you turned in your application yet? Where did you take the NET at? Was it hard at all? Any advise? So I just need to watch my timing on the reading portion then huh? I can't wait to get it over with, it cost 25 bucks right?

I am waiting on my fingerprint clearance card to submit my application. I took the NET at Glendale. I do not want to say it was "hard," but I have difficulty with the timed reading anyway, so that part was a little tough for me, but I have heard and seen lots of posts that almost everyone has a difficult time with the critical reading over the math portion. You have to go pay for it at the registration first then take your receipt to the testing center, for Glendale anyway.
