We have just recently switched over to strictly using the Neobar for our intubated babies. What type of tape does everyone use to wrap around the Neobar and the ET tube? We are presently using a cloth tape and it is very, very sticky when trying remove to adjust tube. Afraid it will lead to extubations.

A neobar should have the Velcro with the teeth to grip the tube and the stretchy tape to adhere to the face. We don't use any additional tape on them. Are you doing this and then using additional tape?

I guess I'm a little confused too? We use the Neobar system but no other tape. I actually liked just strictly "pink tape" and hate the new system but what are you going to do . . .

Our Neobar has no Velcro with it and the tabs that attach to the face are like duoderm so I am confused

Ahh I just talked to some nurses that recently went to a conference and what the first two commenters are talking about seems to be a Neofit. I am asking about Neobar. Thanks

You're right. We trialed those and we just used white cloth tape. We didn't like them for the reason you stated and went to the neofit.

Heyyyy, that Neofit thing looks kinda spiffy. Maybe one of these days I'll work in a facility that is willing to try new things like that. I get so sick of people wrapping so much tape around the ETT that you can't see the cm mark on the tube, can't get it unwrapped/loosened to adjust depth, etc.

Ugh!!! The tape...............grrrrrr! We use h-tape to hold the ETT then use the Neobar to support using additional tape to secure the tube to the Neobar. The tape is the white cloth tape that becomes icky and sticky but only in the places you don't want it to, like around the tube. It's always coming off of the face. We are currently (thankfully) looking into better ways to hold the tube. Hopefully we can at least minimize the goo!!!
