Need a nurse's opinion

Published

I am a 30 year old female. I had a very deep abscess on my bikini area. Went to see my GP, she gave me a shot of Rocephin, and a 10 day Rx of Doxycycline. It busted, all the infected pus came out. The redness and cellulitus went down for a couple days. This was last week. Went back to see her Monday, she sent me to the ER, they have be 3 doses of Vanc and something else (I can't remember the name of it). I was fed up by that time. Well I wake up today to more pain, redness, and the infected tissue coming back. My lactic acid is also 4.2, and they are telling me I'm septic. I don't have much in the hospitals in my area, but should I go back to the ER? One of the doctors mentioned all that dead tissue would need to be surgically removed also. TIA

Per the site's TOS, we are not able to give any medical advice. Have you asked your GP what she thinks you should do?

She thinks I need to be in the hospital, once I get in there I get doctors condtradicting themselves. But nothing is killing this, I have a VP shunt, that I'm terrified this infection is gonna get into that, but my surgeon and his hospital are four hours away

Go to the hospital and get treated ASAP...if it comes down to seeing your specialist, you can always get transferred to that hospital later-just get treated ASAP.

Again ..it is against TOS to offer medical advice.

You have received medical advice. What does it matter how far away your surgeon is? You need stat treatment. Four hours is long enough to allow that infection to overwhelm your system.
