Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hi. i am so confused about where to go to school i am hoping someone out there has some advice.

i am broke and want loans to cover my living expenses if possible, so that i may concentrate on school without having to work. the only affordable situations for me it seems, is to get an AS at a community college. Is this a bad move ?

Only you can decide. I am going to community college and I'll graduate with about 25k in student loans. I'm planning on working for one of the many hospitals which pay for you to get your BSN while employed there. Some people cannot fathom getting an associates degree and working as an RN. Others like me are quite grateful to start that way.

You are going to have to decide.

You may want to consider an accelerated BSN program that covers the cost of tuition. All u have to do is cover your personal expenses. Most of these are sponsored by local hospitals or health care networks with the requirement that u work for them for a specified number years after graduation. I think it's a pretty fair deal. There are 2 programs like this that I know of: University of Arizona and Winston-Salem State University (North Carolina). If u're willing to relocate, and u have a good GPA (I was told that the average GPA of accepted students in the U of A program was 3.7), then u could try it.

I don't know if Vickim already has a bachelors degree that is required for the accelerated BSNs?

I go to a community college but didn't have any other options. Even if I did, I'm sure I would have still chosen to get my associates in nursing at the c.c. I'd rather pay $91 a credit than $400 a credit hour any day.

BSN and ASN students all take the same NCLEX-RN test so as long as your school is accredited,it doesn't matter how you get through school.

With the long waiting lists, apply to several programs and then take the best offer.
