  1. thanks! your advice is much appreciated. have a good day!
  2. why does everything have to be so HARD in new york?!
  3. I have no previous health care experience on my resume but would like to start working in a hospital setting asap- (Im in my thirties)- so that I can gain experience and possibly network while I go in school. ( I start in fall ) I'm not sure of the best way to proceed. do you have any recommendations on how to get my foot in the door? I just committed to volunteer work at a local hospital one day a week. Will this help me land a job? my resume? experience? Or is it hopeless to even consider getting a paid job in the field without yet having a certificate? I am so depressed thinking that I may have to continue work as an office manager for the next few years. :) Thanks for your help!!
  4. jeez! i hope the really unhappy nurses that have replied on this thread have other careers to fall back on. i would hate to see someone continue to do something that they loathe. i'm a student so i can't speak from working as a nurse yet and won't be able to make that opinion until i do, but i do know that nursing will let me rest my head on my pillow every night before i go to sleep and know that i am doing something that makes a difference in this world. HELPING PEOPLE. In this day and age, why wouldn't you want to contribute in the health care field with all that is going on?? and no worries- someday someone will clean up your poop too. if you're lucky, there will still be some of us left to do so.
  5. as far as different cities costing more than others...the wages are often higher also so it close to balances out. i'm from the east coast but lived in california for six years. Alot of people have trouble with LA but I loved it. the smog can be nasty yes, but waking up to sunshine everyday surrounded by mountains made me feel as though I was always on vacation. California rules -was great for my psyche! "Do what you are eager to do if your heart is in the right place ... live life to the fullest with no regrets." good luck!
  6. I like watching the show too, but it's pretty ridiculous. I don't think they portray anyone in a good manner nurses, doctors, students.... in "real life" is the staff constantly having sex inside the hospital or better yet, do the surgeons discuss their love life while performing surgery? jeez i hope not.
  7. Hi. Trying to decide between Glendale Community College or Pasadena City before transferring to a University. Any suggestions on these schools? Thanks!!
  8. hi, can't you attend a community college for your nursing degree? They are alot cheaper. And while you are attending school, you should be able to defer any student loans that you owe I think. Maybe the school you attend can help you get a job?? vickim
  9. hi. i am so confused about where to go to school i am hoping someone out there has some advice. i am broke and want loans to cover my living expenses if possible, so that i may concentrate on school without having to work. the only affordable situations for me it seems, is to get an AS at a community college. Is this a bad move ?
