Need your comments about Assignment America

Published

Hi Dear RN,

Anyone from the group who is currently processing for US or already in US under this agency. Any feedback?

Thank you

Any news re. Assignment America? I'm also looking for any feedback about them.

I think your best bet would be to read the forum. Look at how many American nurses are looking for jobs.

Are you in a speciality like ICU, NICU, OR?

Would you be wanting to live in Colorado, the Dakotas, the fly over states? Or are you wanting to live in California, Hawaii, Florida.

Then you will have your answers.

Yep, ICU with more than 10 years experience. Don't mind which state I end up but I passed NCLEX at NC. Thank you for reply :)

I've got a notion that you didn't understand our question. "Assignment America" is an agency - that's why we are asking whether it is any good :)

Oh she understood your question. She's just checking to make sure you're aware that the opportunities for foreign nurses are somewhat limited given that American nurses are having a hard time finding jobs.

The US can't keep up with demand for health care workers

Read the forum. There are places that pay very poorly, have unsafe staff/patient ratios. That is why there is a healthcare worker shortage.

Healthcare workers aren't just nurses, it's the aides, lab techs, etc.. My hospital in Canada cant keep up with the need for aides. Some units are like revolving doors due to workload and acuity.

Can't agree more. That's why I put that CNN article on. Same story in Uk.

Okay, sure believe the media instead of actual American nurses. We all know the media is completely honest and factual. Good luck with your endeavors.

Do you really believe that Health Care system is not understaffed?

Do you really believe that Health Care system is not understaffed?

Well, I tried to gracefully bow out of this but...

Let me make this clear to you. We are not understaffed due to a shortage of RNs. We are understaffed because we are UNDER-HIRED! There are plenty of nurses to fill the gap but hospitals here post jobs they have no intention of filling. We are a accustomed to making do with less when it comes to staffing so the PTB see that and think "hmmm, they seem to be doing okay so they must not need that FTE" and poof that position is gone. Hospitals don't really care about staffing. They care about their bottom line. It's cheaper to have one nurse do the job of two so that's where we are. It has nothing to do with a shortage. The major shortage in healthcare workers is not in nurses but in aides. People don't want to do that kind of hard work for barely over minimum wage. It's easier to sling burgers and with way less responsibility.

So to answer your question, I WORK in the health care system here in the US. You don't. All you have is the media which has been propagating this lie about the huge nursing shortage here that simply does not exist. And these so-called "agencies" are more than happy to take your money and make promises that they cannot keep. But if you want to keep believing the media, because we know how honest they are, go right ahead, that's your prerogative.
