I dont know what to do. I am stuck at a crossroads with this test. I found out i failed for the 5th time and i honestly what to do now. I have been out of school since may 2014 and have tried literally everything to try and pass.
Disclaimer: i am not going to look into another career or give up because i know that this is what i want to do. And frankly i will not let 4 yrs of school go to waste!
I have spent so much money on reviews and books but this time around i want to start fresh and anew. Idk where or how to start over. I want to retry hurst the updated version but ive exhausted my funds with this test.
What should i do? How should i start over?

You're stuck at a crossroads after 5 failures, and don't know what to do. (But you won't look into any other career.)
You want to "start fresh & anew." (But you don't know how to and you lack the funds to do so.)
You've answered every question yourself. Perhaps I'm jaded, but the last time someone in your shoes came here & asked for suggestions, the thread became very angry very fast, with the OP arguing with everyone who dared to suggest anything other than her pre-conceived ideas of how she was going to conquer the exam on try #6.

Hi Shanya, I'm sorry you feel this way and just know you are not alone in this situation. I am no expert and have not taken the exam yet, but can relate to you feeling this way at times. I came from a school with a 68% passing rate and I barely passed nursing school. I realized that I knew I had a lot ahead of me to pass NCLEX but have read many posts on here from people like me who have passed the exam. ITS POSSIBLE. I wonder sometimes why the schools do not spend time on critical reasoning specifically and emphasize Maslow (oxygenation, urination, etc) and its importance of ABC's. I never will understand that because then we fall short on having to learn the basics again. Have you looked to understand first the basic nursing concepts such as critical reasoning, decision making, and problem solving in a clinical setting and acute/emergency setting? That is what I am doing now because I also was not understanding nursing knowledge too well and for me just doing questions was not helping me see the "big picture."
I hope this helped. Life can sometimes be a detour but there is always a way to get to your destination . God willing can make the impossible - possible
Thank you so much!
Your welcome :)

Hi there, sorry to hear that you are struggling with this test. It definitely is a beast, however you can pass! I did use the updated Hurst program--it's a good review , but as you say it does cost a bit-- about 300$ for the online review. I also read cover to cover the Saunders book. I loved Saunders. In addition I used UWORLD question bank--it's very challenging, but really good because the rationales were so detailed. One affordable app is the NCLEX Mastery app--about $30.00--also very good questions and rationales and you can do them on the go.
I would review your candidate reports to figure out where you are strong/weak. I'd also suggest maybe investing in a few hours of private tutoring--then use one or maybe two sources (like Hurst and NCLEX Mastery or choose Saunders & UWORLD). Good luck !!
Hi . Thank you for your encouraging words and advice. Its been so hard on me b/c im not dumb but the test is just difficult. I wonder if i could pay someone maybe half the price to get their log in and password for the current hurst.
I have the nckex mastery app as well as saubderd, ive used it as reference bc the book is huge!
