NCLEX RN in 3 weeks, Kaplan,HELP!!

Published

Hello everyone. I will be taking the NCLEX(again..) in 3 weeks and I just need some advice or interventions on what I can do to improve? Last time I used Saunders to study, by taking down notes on each chapter and did some kaplan questions from the q bank, every couple of days...but I failed at 110 questions..

Anyways, this time Im using Kaplan again but decided to finish the entirw Q bank and I have been doing the Q trainers, so far my scores are.

Q1=60

Q2=62

Q 3= 58

Q 4=75

Q5=69

I will be taking the Q 6 tomorrow and Q 7 the next day. I have also been looking over every single Kaplan video that goes over the NCLEX categories, which I find quite helpful. I NEVER realised that Kaplan had these videos, so I just stumbled upon it as I was browsing the site. I also plan to do the Alternate questions and Priority questions. Any other advice on what to do for the next 3 weeks? Im not sure if I should. go over the saunders notes again or the PDA Lacharity again? Ive also been reading over the 97 pg study guide, since I heard it was helpful.

Also, after doing Kaplan q trainers, each category is graded. Which grades are above passing and which grades are NEAR passing? for instance in my Q5 my results are

60% in Management of care

75% Safety Infection

73 in Health Promotion

73 in Psychosocial Integrity

54 in Basic care and comfort

56 in Pharm

69 in Reduction risk potential

87 in Physiological Adaptation

So which ones would be above passing and which one is near passing? lets say I got these scores on the real NCLEX, do you think it would be passing? I also tend to get the lowest scores n Basic care/comfort and highest in Physiological adaptation, for some reason. Thanks!

Your Q trainer scores are pretty good, above 60 is where you want to be. You don't need to be above passing in all categories to pass NCLEX. You are the only one that knows what you need to work on. If you are getting the delegation and the "see first" questions correct on your trainers, then you are good on those types of questions. The problem with the NCLEX test is that it is luck of the draw on the questions and the sequence of questions they ask. I had similar Q trainer scores and my test stopped at 76 questions. Does that mean that if I took the test again, would it stop around the same question? all depends if it asks me areas that I am weak on. Fortunately, it asked areas that I knew and not mental health, developmental milestones, and obscure medication side effects.

thanks Don, but are you sure you dont need to be above all categories? cause last time i failed the NCLEX, I had areas that I was above passing, and areas near passing. If you dont need to be above to pass, then why would my report tell me all of that?

cant wait for pass this exam!
