NCLEX Review Courses

Published

Which review course do you prefer? Kaplan? Hurst? ATI? I am talking an in-class course review, not simply books on your own. I am still in school and am planning on taking the NCLEX in January.

Thanks! :flowersfo

I did VirtualATI and Hurst. I did not do Kaplan. I didn't like Virtual ATI very much because it required a lot of reviews that were very time consuming. I tried to stick with it for three weeks, but finally gave up. I also did Hurst Review. I paid $350 to do the live review and paid the $50 to do the online review. I absolutely believe it helped me when I took my NCLEX yesterday.

A friend that did the review with us said that she didn't feel like Hurst helped at all. I guess it just depends what you need. I need a refresher on content. Hurst gives you that. They do sprinkle a little bit of strategy in to, but majority is content. If you need a review on strategies, Kaplan is the one. Personally, I believe that if you don't have test taking strategies down, you probably barely made it through all of those nursing school tests.

Good luck to you!:yeah:

Neither of the above, but pass with Saunders. Wish you all the best!

Okay, a possibly silly question. Where do you start with Saunders? I am still in school but am wanting to start prepping next week. We are in our mental health and community health courses. I have worked really hard to get all of the assignments done and submitted early. As a result, I can start studying for NCLEX RN next week! Where do I even begin???? Any tips are greatly appreciated. I graduate in December and would like to take the exam in January.

Betsy,

I would say start by focusing on your biggest weakness. I knew mine were maternal/child care and pharm. I studied alot of these. Then, I started with the endocrine system next. I'd say, focus on the areas that you look at and go HUH???? Look over the others too, but not as much. Good luck to ya!

While I was in my last semester of school I used the saunders book. After graduation I used Kaplan for 4 weeks and passed. After doing kaplan however, I realized the saunders book was more knowledge based questions than critical thinking so I mostly used it for specific topic review like endocrine, cardiac etc.

Thanks! Used the Saunders disc and scored 61% w/o studying, after a very long day...tired...printed out a customized 6 week study guide. I am still in school, so this may b a little ambitious, but I will give it a shot!
