NCLEX EXAM

Published

I would like to encourage all those who are taking the NCLEX. I took the test last Thursday. I didn't feel prepared at all. I graduated from nursing school in DEC 2011. I work a full time and I have 3 small children. So I started studying when I got out for the summer from my job. I registered for the 3 week learning extention the week before taking the test. I really didn't get a chance to finish all the sections. They want you to score a 75% I was scoring 55%. So i really didn't feel prepared. I also did questions from SAUNDERS Q&A CD. IM SO excited to tell the world I PASSED. My husband told me HE KNEW I WAS GOING TO PASS I DIDN'T FEEL CONFIDENT AT ALL. I FELT I DIDN'T STUDY ENOUGH. I HAD MEDICATIONS ON THE TEST THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE. I also listened to Hurst review. Everything that told you was correct. The test is a judgement and safety test. NCLEX want you to be able to use good judgement to keep the patient safe. I think thats the best way to choose your answer. Also remember never choose assess within 15 min. What can you do for the patient to keep them alive. Thats the attitude i had when i choose my answers. I KNOW GOD WORKS MIRACLES Because he certainly gave me one. He alleviated my anxiety and gave me peace when i was taking the test. I am so thankful to God . So be encouraged to know that he got you through nursing school, he didn't bring you this far to leave you. He wll bring you through the nclex and pass it.

God bless you all.

Great job. CONGRATULATIONS!

Praise God for whom all blessing flow!! Way to cling to Him :) Congrats and thanks for sharing the power of faith. God bless you!!

Beautiful! Congrats ? and God Bless!

Congrats! I also did the 3 week extension from the NCSBON website & the Sauders CD & passed w/ 75 questions first try! God is great!!!! :)

congrats to you! I am praying that mine will go well next week. very nervous here.

I feel like finding your post was a sign!!!!! I am scheduled to take my test tomorrow. I also have been doing the ncsbn 3wk course and have been scoring in the 50%-73% range. I was (and still am just a little bit) freaking out till no end! The second I read your post I felt so relieved. I have been feeling like I didn't do enough but I guess I'm just stressing too much.

Congrats to you!!! :)

First of all, I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS!!

Secondly, like everyone else, I, too, am very nervous and anxious about the examination. I keep wondering if my current study habits (Quizzes, 100-question Exams, etc. on Saunders CD) are enough to help me pass. I am scheduled to take it in a few weeks! Yikes!! Needless to say, thanks to your post which I happen to stumble across just now (God sure works in mysterious ways!), melted away most of the overwhelming anxiety and stress that had consumed me in the past few weeks. I was happy to find out that the NCLEX is not strictly based on the percentage of correctly answered questions...obviously, one does want to do well by answering correctly but it's nice to know that as long as a person use's his or her good judgement & safety skills to answer each question presented (according to the standard required for passing, whatever that might be) he or she will do fine. Again, CONGRATS & THANK YOU!! :)

"The test is a judgement and safety test. NCLEX want you to be able to use good judgement to keep the patient safe. It to keep them alive. Thats the attitude i had when i choose my answers. I KNOW GOD WORKS MIRACLES Because he certainly gave me one. He alleviated my anxiety and gave me peace when i was taking the test."I too gra was so sure of failure that i actually could have checked my test results about 5 days sooner than I did. I usually cannot wait on anything....so to wait for test results this important was very weird to me. But i figured out why I was able to wait so long, because it was a way to avoid dealing with the feelings of failing and the physical and emotional issues that come from that. Anyhow to my surprise I passed! NOW...MY WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT to those who have not tested yet: I did NOT STUDY for the NCLEX...and yes I passed the 1st time! I believe this is because I owe this to my school and instructors1st of all and secondly to myself. My school has one of the highest by far...ratio of students that pass the NCLEX their 1st time. I knew this when I decided to enroll in the program. I knew of schoola that were easier on you and so called "nicer" instructors, but thats not what I thought would help. I seen that my school did not have the highest ratio of Nurse graduates, but graduates that pass the NCLEX. SO, in closing, I believe what my instructors told the class, you can do all the review you want before the NCLEX, but if you didn't learn enough...or the main concepts (like common sense in nursing and patient safety is 1st, the abc's, and most important)...not to overthink questions (as many of the questions have several right answers, its about choosing the best answer in that particular situation) "if you didnt successfully learn these concepts, last minute studying isn't going to do it for you. So for anyone struggling, i would say work on those things rather than individual questions and answers and you will do great. If you don't pass the 1st time, don't beat yourself up...some people just arent good test takera. Pick yourself up and try again, next time you probably wont have as much anxiety of the unknow getting in the way. Good luck and blessings to all. (And yes of course it doesn't hurt asking God to be there with you).Nichole
