Hi good afternoon. I have already registered online in your website. But i do have more questions and i hope you can give me answers to this. I really appreciate it. Ive been planning to work in California. However in order to be eligible for the exam I need to have an SSN which i do not have yet. So your specialist suggested to take another state instead. My question is which other state do you suggest that i would apply for if I want to work in California at a later time. I heard that endorsing a license from one state to California is hard and also requires same documents. Also another question. I am already planning to go to California by next year (hopefully, in God's perfect time) with the fiancee visa and soon converting it as an immigrant. Would it be wiser to take the NCLEX exam here or should i just wait til I get there. Im just concerned about the requirements

better to start the process now.
Where and when did you train? CA are very strict and unless your case studies show clinical and theory done at the same time you are going to have issues registering with CA.
There are many threads discussing this so suggest a good read

To become a nurse in CA, either by applying directly as a first-time applicant OR even thru the endorsement (reciprocity) process, you'll need:
(a). valid working authorized SS#, if you submit either forms of the above mentioned application without the proper SS#, the CA BRN will simply reject the application, then, you'll have only 3 years from the application to "complete" the application or it will be "abandoned".
(b). since you're not a US or dual citizen at the time of graduation, you'll need to provide a valid and current PH nursing license.
Mind you, even with all said and done with the above and able to meet them later, there's a very good chance that your transcripts will not meet the minimum CA BRN rules with regards to the concurrency issues. Some kababayans have also found they are missing two other courses as well, that of Psych and Peds or another course. These issues will cause the declination of your application and you'll have to try to re-take those certain courses as determined by the CA BRN evaluators.
As far as what's the best other state to take the NCLEX-RN then try to endorse (reciprocate) back into CA: none.
No matter where you get your out-of-state license, endorsing back into CA means having to basically apply again as a "first-time applicant", meaning you need to submit brand new transcripts, new non-refundable application fees, further school documentation and comply with any new rules and regulations in the future. If you got turned down by the CA BRN before, then there's the same likely chance, it will be rejected again. There was a recent posting by someone who's friends somehow "slipped" thru the CA BRN crack and got endorsed, but I believe at some point, the CA BRN will catch up to them and will request for the license to be returned, as that's also can and does happen.
Since you're set to work and practice in CA, you should just apply into CA and if you're denied, at least, you're ahead of the game and can then think of either going to another state to work and practice and to raise a family, take the LVN exam in CA and try to enroll in a LVN-RN program or try to find the near impossible CA schools to make up for the deficient courses per the CA BRN notification letter.
Just remember that in CA, you have three (3) years from the application date to complete your entire application's filing of all paperwork so that you can avoid having your whole application go into the "abandonment" pile. After the third year, if not completed, you'll have to re-start the entire application process from square 1 (new application fees, new transcripts, new everything all over again).
I know this is kind of a late response but I would just like to inform you that I am already a licensed CA RN now! Whoo. Im so happy. Submitted requirements April 2015, got my ATT September and took my NCLEX in December. Now, I am looking for RN positions in a hospital setting. I hope I could land a job soon :) Thanks for your advises.

Hi were i affected by the concurrency issue? I am still waiting from the board for a response regarding my application, and may i know the additional docs they asked from u if they did? Thank u so much
Hi shesanurse! Just to give you an idea of my background, I graduated March 2012 in Cebu. Had 2 years of experience in a hospital 2013-2015. Migrated to California April 2015. From the moment I got here I applied for my SSN right away so I could go ahead and submit my application for NCLEX in CA (note that before I came here I have already prepped my requirements and documentations needed for the application. I requested all the necessary paperworks from my school but I left the SSN section blank). Submitted my application late April 2015. Got a feedback around June-July asking me to send some supporting documents (detailed cases and academic calendar). Sent back the docs around late July. Then got my eligibility around September. I don't know what really happened or why I got my eligibility right away but it must be because my cases in DR and OR are almost concurrent to the curriculum. We were exposed really early. We had alternate clinical and school schedules. I think that could be the reason why. How about you?
I saw your PM shesanurse! Unfortunately all nurses wouldn't let me send a PM back since I haven't been so active here. Anyway, I replied to your post here. Hope that helps í ½í¸‰
Thank u so much for replying, so just the academic calendar and cases they asked from u? No booklet? Thank u rosefillet01
No problem Actually this is what they asked from me (I digged through my records for yah) - Clinical portion of transcript (clinical record reflecting exact dates, locations, procedures performed and instructor signatures, etc). For that document to be released by my school, I need to show them my RLE manual to verify it. So yeah, to answer your question, even though the BON only asked for my clinical portion of transcript directly sent from my school I had to fax a copy of RLE manual to them so they could use it as a guide and verify it.
I see on my case the board is asking for my rle booklet from my school... I am sure the board wants to compare my cases with the booklet. But do u think they just want a copy? I mean i dont need to have my school send the actual book cause thats the original book, they wont return it. Right?
