I have a patient with nausea/vomiting. Using Phenergan gel 25mg every 4 hours. Anyone got any tips? Prescription or home remedy?

is the patient in a hospital? just asking since you mentioned home remedies...what about good old sips of gingerale...if in the hospital, maybe zofran or compazine?
She's at home. A hospice patient!

If she is able to take in fluids, maybe a few sips of ginger ale or flat Sprite or 7-Up. Also maybe lemon suckers or sniffing of cut lemon wedges.

Try sniffing alcohol wipes. Or cottonball with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it if you do not have any alcohol wipes available. We use this at the facility I work at and it seems to help.

That totally works. I learned this from a nurse I used to work with. Another nurse thought I was Nutty McNutcase when she saw me sniffing alcohol wipes when I was gonna hurl.
Okay.........for all you alchohol sniffers (LOL :chuckle ) Do you just sniff quickly? Is there a certain amount of time you sniff it? (I am being serious)
Here is my dilemma with my patient. I spent 3 hours with her last night. Phenergan gel, Ativan gel still nauseated. Brief hx of this patient. COPD, end Stage, has feeding tube and trach. Friday afternoon son was feeding her (bolus feeding) She became nauseated immediatley. So, I assumed he fed her too fast. Did some patient/caregiver teaching. Held the feedings for 12 hours. As the night progressed she became more nauseated and began vomiting. So I figure the flu. She stopped vomiting but has been nauseated since. Son has held her feedings due to the nausea. Got a order this evening for Compazine supp. Son gave her 1/2 can of feeding and she became severely nauseated again. My gut says its just the flu or perhaps the formula. (But she has been on the formula for several months) What does everyone think? I need some input!

I have replied to your later post
Just sniff until nausea subsides. Don't sniff too hard though.
