N-PASS Scale

I would like to know if anyone is using the Neonatal pain, agitation, & Sedation scale (N-PASS scale). How do you find it? Is it helpful in assessing pain and effectiveness of sedation in preterm and term neonates? :)

Use it, love it, wanna marry it.

Used it before, and I liked it a lot better than the junk we use now (PIPP/comfort scale)

I think its great... especially since it gives the preemie babies an automatic score...

Can you give me more information on N-PASS? My unit is in desperate need of something clinically objective for pain assessment to take to our director. He thinks the morphine is just to make the nurse happy :angryfire

All the information you need is on the website:

http://www.n-pass.com/

You can look at the chart, learn to use it, read about it's development, etc.

I believe there was also an article about it in one of the neonatal nursing journals - don't remember which one, but a lit search should bring it up.

Good luck!
