My plan

Hi there,

Can I run this idea by everyone. Is it good or not ? I'm unhappy where I work. I hate going there. It's chaotic with no support and back stabberish. Im finding that I'm having more sick days than I should. In January I'm having surgery so will be not on my feet for month. I was thinking about finishing end of December and giving myself time to heal physically but having a break. I feel like I need to recharge my batteries so to speak. After that finding another job. Is it wise leaving without another job lined up. I love nursing but the environment is getting to me. So I need a break. But I'm also scared because I have never just resigned without another job in the wings.

That would depend on how long you can afford to be unemployed for. If you resign before your surgery, do you have health insurance outside of this job? If not, can you afford to pay COBRA?

How long have you been at this job for? If it were me, I'd take my medical leave and then resign at the end of my leave. I worked with plenty of people who did this following maternity leaves.

My advice would be to not leave without another job lined up (unless you just don't need to work ...) Best wishes!
