how much pay to expect

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hey I'm currently an lpn in Maryland. I would love to move to Connecticut area. I currently make 20.45/hr. What is the approximate pay rate for a lpn with 3+ years experience in a supervisory role. I have worked in LTC for the past 3 years. also whats the cost of living like in CT. How much for a decent home? thanks for any help I can get

Lpn's are not allowed to work at the hospitals in CT, you have to be an RN to work at a hospital, so Lpn's make little money here in CT.

housing is very expensive here. but the pay is higher than other states so it all evens out.

Actually, CT does hire LPN's in the hospital. Charlotte Hungerford, Midstate, Waterbury Hospital, St.Mary's in Waterbury, Hosp.of St.Rhea's and Bridgeport Hosp. Bridg & St. Rhea's have ad's on career builder....ER for Bridgeport Hosp. I'm an LPN here in CT in rehab. and I make more than the RN's do in the hospital. SO sad but, lots of employment, many have told me the LPN pay scale w/ LTC is $25-$30/hr and an RN in St. Rhea's will be about $24 to start. Hospital's don't pay! Also, the LTC and Hosp. are tring to get their own employee's. They don't want pool/agency nurses. But, if you do go agency then you will be making crazy money!

Specialty nursing settings, like Psych, tends to pay more. You might want to consider working in a specialty setting. Where I work (State of CT - Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction) the hospital per diem nurses make $50.00/hour, which is even more than the travel/pool nurses that fill in from time to time. i started out in home health care as a new grad in Norwalk CT 3 1/2 yrs ago making 26/hr..... we had an lpn making 25/hr...... and we all made the same rate for prn visits which was 35 for a revisit and 60 for a start of care..... also as someone else said you can make good money in LTC.... greenwhich has a nursing home which hires lpns in the $30s and there are many agencies which pay lpns almost the same as RNs....but YES LPN's can find PLENTY of work in CT.

if you work through an agency, you can get more money. A friend of mine works for Maxim Healthcare and makes $50 an hour
