I worked an average of 15 hrs a week while I was in LPN program. Shool was from 8-2:30. With sudying, single mom of 3 kdis that was all I could manage. I hear that if you can go without working during an RN program you are better off, if not maybe PT 20 hours max....... IMHO

i worked 20 hours during my first semester at grossmont, but i quit my job just before the start of second semester since i'd heard that this semester is really difficult.

first semster, we had class one full day (7-430) & then clinical for one full day. this semester, we have class for three hours twice a week & i have clinicals two days a week for 6 hours/day.

I would start out working nothing, if possible. That way, you can see for yourself how much time you will need to devote to school/study in order to obtain the grades you want/need. Everyone is different - just because some can work 20+ hours a week and attend nursing school full-time does not mean that others can. And if you wish to continue for your BSN, MSN, etc. you will need to keep your grades up, which may mean less time for work.
