MTSA 2021

While I don't know the situation on how they're notifying people, I can tell you that this program is, like I'm sure all programs are, reeling from the fallout of the COVID 19 situation. The administration is scrambling to transition everything online and restructuring the program/course sequence for our class. I say this to put your mind at ease. They will get around it, there is just a lot going on. I know waiting to hear is super hard. I know I can't take the anxiety away, I just wanted to give you the reason behind the delays.

Thank you for this . What was your GRE & stats if you don’t mind me asking ?

I'm just a first year. I had a 3.5 GPA cumulative, like 3.8 science, 305 GRE.

5 years paramedic, 2 years ER, 2 years CVICU. CCRN. BLS & ACLS Instructor.

None of my stuff is that impressive. The only thing that sets me apart is the paramedic and AHA instructor stuff. Everybody in anesthesia school has a great resume. I do feel that I interviewed pretty well.

*One motivating thing for those of you with a blemish on your transcript; I have an F in freshman English.

My ICU experience could have been better. I worked in a fairly vanilla CVICU. CABGs and valves were our bread and butter. We didn't use a lot of devices. Occasional IABP or impella. I did more CRRT than I cared for though. RT did all of our vent stuff.

I wish this was true, but I did some digging on that FB group and the guy that got an interview said that MTSA's email said that they were looking at locals first. He also said that his interview was going to be thurs May 7. I messaged the guy to get some info, but he didn't respond.. Ill let you guys know if I hear back.

This is incorrect. I'm not local at all and I was offered an interview, I applied before being accepted to another program and will be declining my interview. Good luck to all applicants.

CONGRATS on your acceptance elsewhere! Can I ask what your background/stats are?

3.6-3.7 GPA's depending on how you calculate it. 3 years ICU, 5+ years ER experience. Multiple certifications. Heavy involvement in my ICU including teaching CRRT and balloon pump classes. GRE score 306 4.5 in writing. I think the most important aspect to get into school is to just keep working on literally anything that will improve your resume. As someone who took two cycles to be accepted and has interviewed at a few programs I can tell you there are just a ton of really good applicants. Doing the bare minimum is not enough and I would encourage you to push yourself to continue learning.

I spoke with MTSA Friday and they said that the locals were interviewed in the 1st group of interviews. This was done to comply with the requests of the local clinical sites. CONGRATS to you on your acceptance and I wish you luck!
