Hello friends,
I am the manager of OB/MS units at my CAH. I am finishing my MSN in leadership and management. I am considering doing my DNP, but I am curious to know if a DNP would make a difference for promotions, or if my MSN is sufficient for promotions to CNO/CNE and beyond?? Side note; there are very few managers with an MSN at my facility.
thx!!

IMO, unless your goal is to become the CNO of a major teaching hospital, a DNP is totally unnecessary. Go for the MSN-Leadership - it has opened MANY doors for me.

Depending on the facility/organization and the area of the country, a BSN can be required for frontline/entry-level manager positions, an MSN can be required or preferred for middle management positions, and an MSN can be required for senior-level and up positions. A DNP in many areas is exceeding expectations if you are applying for entry through senior-level management positions but may be required for executive-level positions. If you are in an area with very few MSNs in leadership (there used to be ADNs in leadership where I used to live), you are doing well. Good Luck!
