Moving to NC

Hello fellow nurses!

I live in NY and am moving to NC in June 2008 sometime. Charllotte, Raliegh, or Greensboro is my three choices. (havent decided yet) I was just wondering if any of you could give me some insight on nursing jobs, hospitals, wages, or just anything about these three places. I would love some feedback on my decision and some direction.

Thank you,

Emily

Hey! I live in Raleigh. Raleigh is a really central location and you have a ton of oppotunities. There's Duke Univ. in Durham, so you have the Duke Univ. Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital and Duke Raleigh Hospital, WakeMed with hospitals in Cary, Raleigh, Apex and a free standing Pedi-ER, UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill and UNC Rex Hospital here in Raleigh... they are all excellent hospitals.. my b/f works at WakeMed as an RN and he LOVES it. Good luck to you :)

they have breat weather in NC. You have the mountains and the beach usally locted with in 10-12 hrs away from anywhere. As far as the hospitals some are as different as day is from night. many of the larger facilites will give you a lot of options, you can be a liitle fish in a big pond,or they have some great smaller facilities, a big fish in a little pond. So there is a lot to offer you as a nurse in NC. But my advice would be to talk to a few NY nurses who have or are working in NC. They may share some real interesting stories. good luck

Hi Emily

I'm also in NY (Queens) and am planning to move to NC in March 2008. I am going to live in Pinehurst and am keeping an eye on the moore regional hospital since I'll be about 1 hour away from raleigh but I've heard great things about Duke and Wakemed which are close to where you're going to live. Where in NY do you live? I'd love to keep in touch and maybe we can help each other out as we go along. Have you gotten your license by endorsement yet?

Alexandra
