Ok so I have posted a few questions in here before and I hope you all will help me out again. I think that its pretty official that I will be moving to the Norwood area in the fall to be with my boyfriend and daughter. I am currently an LPN in CT and I looked everywhere to try and find out what I have to do to carry my license over to MA and I cant find anything!! Can some of you help me out? :o

Welcome to Massachusetts!

Good luck with your move.

Here is the board of registration site--just email them about license transfer and ask what you will need--

Best wishes!

Hi, I am interested in attending a second degree bachelors program in Boston most likely Northeastern but am concerned about the cost of living. How does someone who is a student manage to live in Boston or San Francisco where the cost of living is so high. I have a feeling I may have to live with a roommate but that is hard when you are used to living alone. My sister lives right outside Boston and I know studios cost around $1400. Would I be able to get a loan to cover living costs? I hate the idea of taking a loan out for that but might have to bite the bullet. At least Boston or whereever I apply will have a milder winter than VT. Thanks

HI! Why only limit yourself to Boston? There are many BSN Programs

in Ma. About 1 hour south of Boston is U Mass Dartmouth

They have both BSN and MSN programs. http://www.umassd.edu

Rents and car insurance here are less than Boston and the inside

RTE 128.

We have had some challenging winters in Ma too,so bring your

mittens,hat and shovel!!!;)

But really do a search of all Ma programs to compare.

Best wishes!

I would def get roomates, you will pay much much less. Also, I hate to say it but northeastern i think has the highest tuition out of all the nursing schools in mass. I am a second degree student at umass boston and pay about 1/5 of what it would cost me to go to NE. Some of the cheaper areas to live in are brighton, allston, quincy, and they aren't bad areas to live in. good luck!

Specializes in cardiology-now CTICU.

:yeahthat:

i had roommates and worked noc's in ED's as a tech to pay rent/tuition etc. i went to umass bos as well. i did not see the purpose of paying 5 x's as much for the same degree/same license. unless you are looking for advanced practice, but i think they have that there now too...

anyway... the school experience pretty much sucked, but on the other side there is working in world famous huge teaching facilities with lots of resources, interesting cases, and the best and brightest people surrounding you to learn from... it was worh it to me!

Welcome to MA!! I grew up next to Norwood (in Walpole)! I have stayed in the area. Good luck!

Have you checked the MA and CT board sites? They may be able to help you. I also think that there may be a link on this site. :)
