I just wanted to know if anyone here had moved to AZ and how long did it take to get your licensed transfered? It took my MIL six months to get hers in CA and I am dreading that much time lapse. Thanks

I just checked my fav site to look up State BON"s and their requirement.

4 weeks.. But I'd contact the board because I don't know how up-to-date it is.

Do you have a compact license. Arizona is a compact state.

California is a state of being all to itself, it took forever to get my license but they did give my a temporary letter to let me start work before the actual license came. No other state ever took as long.

If Arizona can't get you a license quickly, ask if they have something similar to the temp. letter. Good luck!

California is a walk through.

I filled out all my paper work from their online forms. Sent it in late March (2003) went to Sac. asked for the fingerprint information, got a map to the DOJ. Went there waited about 35 minutes. Fingerprinted. Back to Cali BON.

My home license is Maine. It's in the nursys system. I told the guy in the office and walked out with my temp 20 minutes later.

I was temp licensed on 1 April and looked at the site on 18 April and was perm licensed on that day.

You do have to have all your ducks in a row.

Guess you've never applied for FL MA of NJ.. Neither have I. I will probably be retired before I ever got them LOL

I think my ducks are too far in a row! I am not an LPN yet-I have to say-but I am confident that mid-august I will be. Anyway, see my husband will be transfered while I am still in school. WE are pretty sure we can get to AZ, the problem being for me what do I do? Should I take my boards there or in MO and then apply with AZ? If it won't take six months then I'll just wait bc I have already started the application process with MO-they, of course do not take part in the compact thing-much to my dismay. Which, I just don't understand.

I was in CA too and man-I got my CNA there then moved to NV which takes just as long. it took FOUR months just to transfer my CNA to that state.

Anyway, I appreciate your input and knowledge. If I HAD to, I could try and work as a unit clerk or rehab tech til my license was approved, which I have done both. But, I'd much rather not. What a headache.

Take your boards in AZ if you are moving there. Why take them in MO get a MO license and then have to get AZ..

AZ is compact you can work in 19 other states on that license.

Let's see if I can name them without peeking.

I know- I guess my worry is this-we don't know for sure where he'll end up. I am pushing SO HARD for AZ (I have fibro and the weather there is good for that, and I hate humidity and snow). But, we may not know until June and I graduate in July and that won't give me enough time to get the app process started and my school's tuition pays for me getting it in MO-but I have not yet found out if that is TRANSFERABLE to AZ-to use that money for that license. Just a irritation right now. I just wish we knew-I mean, it could end up being NM, or CO or TX! I know it is a step I may not need to take but it is the only thing that right now I can think of. Jeeze, I am worn out now just thinking about it! I know I should just sit tight until we really know, but hey, gotta worry about SOMETHING

Well NM and TX are compact too....... You'll have to pay in any other state you go to if you do MO as it's not a compact state so you are out $$$$ anyway.

yeah, I know. Kinda sucks. I jus wish I knew already so I could get started-

HI,

Im moving to az in two weeks. I live in ca and I am liscensed in ca. YOu can transfer your license under endorsement. You need to be re-ingerprinted , which takes about 3-4 weeks after you send in your application for them to send you a fingerprint card. YOu can also work under a temp license untill you receive your offical license. You must however be able to show proof of resiedncy beforehand. If I were you I would just go ahead and take your test in AZ. Will save you time and MONEY. I don't know about your state but not only do I have to repay for my liscense I also have to pay Ca for having my liscense transfered. So good luck to you and study hard.

Licenses are never transferred, you still retain the licenses that you had before, just adding another one. AZ is a two day walk thru state, if you need a temporary license right away to begin work.

And you are paying CA for verification of your license in CA, not for transferring it.
