Arizona is known for paying RNs well. However, the better-paying states also tend to have higher costs of living. What good would it do to earn $30 hourly when the majority of it will be spent on rent/mortgage, utilities, etc.?

If you can stand the cold move to MN. It's one of the higher paid states with cost of living adjustments. I live in southern MN...starting pay for me was $24, but cost of living is pretty low here. Of course..it snows alot in the winter..and in rural areas there is not much around lol.

No, it is not true. You might find as good as $26 an hour and add on night differential and weekend differential to add up to 30. 30 as base pay is not "doable" for a new grad.:monkeydance:

Average RN pay in Arizona is $28 an hour so ...

New grad pay is probably lower than that.

If you do come to Arizona, welcome.

As a new grad in AZ I make close to 30/hr (diff included). I work nights. I dont usually work weekends. We get double time for on call shifts. Id make more if I worked weekends but we have a weekend program...they have to work f-sun 12s but they get time and a half....

Cost of living for utilities is about the same. I pay more for AC out here but more for heat in Ohio so it has evened out...cable, phone, all that is the same...car insurance is a little more expensive...sometimes....gas was a little cheaper here than in ohio when I moved last summer.

Rent for a nice 1Br is about 750-800...2Br900ish and up

Houses are a bit more expensive than in the midwest...but not bad in general...we almost bought a 3br house with a pool in chandler for 280k

this is my experience. Good luck!

NO do not move to AZ! too many people, too many cars, and way to hot if you're not use to heat. $30 an hour for new grads, don't know of any place that pays that for a new grad from out of state. Plus the ratttle snakes and Gila monsters are scary!!! Good luck somewhere else

i am from out of state. Migrated from the midwest. LOVE it. Don't mind the heat. I like it better than the humidity in the midwest. The pay out here is much better than my friends I graduated with. Don't know where the OP is coming from though. I got a 4k reimbursement for all moving expenses, first month rent, anything that had to do with relocation...work in an awesome facility, one of the top neuro hospitals in the country..,its beautiful, state of the art, the management is great imho, love my coworkers...great first experience. However, i havent worked at any other facility in AZ. I have a very narrow view lol. OP if you want to PM me I will tell you the starting salary at my facility..and i know other hosps in the area start a little higher than we do...

I haven't seen any rattle snakes or gila monsters yet...hope not to meet a rattle snake but wouldnt mind seeing a gila monster.....I see little lizzards sometimes...:lol2:
