Hello!
I am am posting because I would like feedback on my current situation. I am from Lousiana and currently working on my BSN. I will finish in 2 semesters, Fall of '16. Prior to enrolling in clinical nursing courses, I signed a consent order with my board of nursing. This entails that I refrain from criminal activity, use of drugs, etc. I have to check in with first lab daily. I am being monitored, but I am not in the recovery nurse program. However, I posted here because I know that many nurses in recovery are required to follow the same stipulations (check in, drug screens, evals, etc). I also am required to send quarterly work evals to the board as well. According to my consent order, I am to be monitored until I graduate and 1 year post graduation as an RN. However, I emailed my case manager and she stated to me as follows: "After you graduate, your file will be sent to our director and we will determine if you need further monitoring as an RN"-----I have been perfect thus far. I haven't even gotten so much as a speeding ticket. I pay my monthly probation fee on time. I have not missed a check in. I have no positive or dilute urine specimens. I also am employed at a hospital as a senior student nurse extern. I truly feel that working in the medical field while i am being monitored will really help my case. The reason I am posting is for feedback. Do any of you think it's possible that i will be released from monitoring after I graduate? The consent order said 3 years, but the case manager acts as if they will be the one to ultimately decide, being that she said my file will be reviewed when I graduate. I feel that as long as I continue to do what I am doing, I should be released and no longer have to be monitored. It truly is stressful and I can not wait to no longer have to worry about checking in and what not!

See if you can locate an attorney that specializes in professional licensure issues. Keep us posted.
Thank you! Finally someone replied!

Hi! So glad to talk to another AN nurse from Louisiana! I was under contract thru the La RNP from 1999 to 2002. I did meet someone else in a situation similar to yours in a meeting.
They did like u said and were able to maintain 100% on the UDS and meetings - and made all their MD follow ups quarterly. They did use an attorney and were able to get thru everything without having to go thru the standard RNP contract.
Hope that helps!
