missed orientation

Published

I took the summer off before I officially start nursing in the fall. I received my full acceptance letter along with the orientation date. I marked the wrong date for the orientation on my calendar, now I have missed it, BY A WEEK!!!! I am freaking out, I worked so hard and jumped thru so many hoops to get to this point, is it all for nothing, will my spot in the program be forfeited? will they understand and hold some special orientation meeting just for me? I've left message when I discovered my mistake, but the wait to see is killing me, anyone have a similar situation?

You will need to wait until you hear from the school. I highly doubt that they will hold a special orientation just for you. Be sure to takeaway from this experience that you need to double and sometimes triple check your calendar.

Pretty sure the orientation is just an orientation. I doubt they would give up your spot. We had to RSVP for ours so it was optional, but it was still a good idea to attend since it's orientation.

For my program, orientation was mandatory. If you didnt show up, it was considered forfeiting your spot and it was given to an alternate. Best to check with school. Nursing school focuses a lot on hard deadlines and professionalism. I hope yours wasn't mandatory and that other arrangements can be made. Best of luck!

Yeah for my program if you didn't show up to orientation you were done, you could defer a semester and start the following though. And this is repeated for every semester. I had a classmate in the hospital on orientation day and still had to sit out of nursing courses for the semester.
