Men in obstetrics

Just wondering how many male nurses work in LDR/Post-Partum units. Send me a message/get in contact.

I had a male nurse in L&D when I had my son. I haven't seen any at the hospital where I did clinicals/preceptorship (in postpartum).

We don't have any in my facility.

Where I work, male Residents/attendings, yes...male nurses, no.

I'm not sure if there are any men in L&D at the hospital I work at, but my mom said she had a male nurse when she had my younger brother. She said that male nurse was the BEST nurse she had. If you're interested in L&D nursing, I say go for it!

My first RN job, on a critical care floor, I worked with a lot of male RNs. I love working with male coworkers. Now that I'm in women's health, that is one thing I miss - more males.

I work with a male L&D nurse. He's awesome!

I've never been able to find any offical stats anedotally the states has very few numbers of 'L&D Nurses' and even fewer Midiwives.

In the UK about 400 men have ever completed the Midwifery training (the majority of us being nurse trained first) with an estimated 150 currently practicing (I think this is lower as there are a lot in management and government who haven't been 'with woman' in years but I digress).

Well never have the same numbers as in general nursing though.

Mr Midwife: Thank you for your reply. I am very interested in knowing more about your experience as a nurse/midwife and how you have been accepted over the years. I want to send you my e-mail not sure if you are interested.
