Memory don't fail me now!!!!

I am wondering, if anyone else is able to retain info from all the science courses they've taken. I am applying to the nursing program this yr. I took A and P 1-2 last year. I'm taking Microbiology this semester. Sooo... Will everything I've learned resurface once nursing classes starts??? Any thoughts....

Many times I find that things that I have learned from A&P come back to me when in nursing, plus a lot of my teachers spend a few minutes reviewing what ever body systemwe are covering to help refresh our memories.

If you took the time to learn it solidly in the first place then yes, it comes back if it hasn't been too long since you thought about it. How solidly you needed to learn it in the first place and/or how long is too long since you thought about it varies widely from person to person. Even if you need to relearn some parts, it will be much easier than it was the first time.

Kind of. I retain some things. Other things, I only retain at a surface level, but without any depth. Now that I'm in nursing school, anatomy is coming back, but not with full knowledge. Only that "Oh, yeah, I remember this from anatomy and physiology" feeling.

The big picture usually comes back to me, but I saved my A&P book and pathophysiology book in case I needed to review a certain system/area/disease. I did not save my microbiology book, but I think I should have because it talks a lot about the different types of cells.

I'd say if you passed the classes, and your GPA is in good standing, then taking the nursing courses will be no problem for you as far as A&P and other science classes.

I was wondering the same thing the other day. Thanks for the post Nurse2b! I also saved my A&P notes and books but only my notes from Micro. Luckily all my notes are on Microsoft OneNote on my computer so its easy to search for keywords (I sound like a salesman for the program!)

It said your mailbox is full.... So far the pass rate on the NCLEX is 100% (Fingers crossed that when all the students take it, it will stay that way!) Your very last term is all clinicals and a Kaplan capstone, which is basically a 10-week review and NCLEX prep. This is an ADN program. Luckily, I have a bachelor's, although not in nursing, so I was able to transfer in a lot of my classes which really helped, cost and timewise. This is the only location for Bauder. I know some of my classmates drive from Winder and McDonough everyday to get to class. Crazy!

Wow!!! That far??? What was the entrance exam required?

There was some general Kaplan test and one called the Wonderlic (sp?).

Thanks! Kaplan Im familiar with but Wonderlic?? Is that more personality versus skills? Hmmm....
