Does anyone here attend medgar evars BSN program? How is it? I think I will apply, I don't want to travel to hunter to go to school, it's too far.
I don't know about nursing, but I heard that their environment is not very clean.
I also heard that in terms of location "its desserted like a dessert". - a long walk to get their. I heard it's not good.
I'm so happy that right as I was about to register for their ADN program, I called my friend b4 and she told me a big nooooooo.
You could maybe try New York City College Of Technology.
I wish you all the best!
I currently attend Medgar Evers college and I might say that it is not a bad environment. The only problem with the school is that they have a long waiting list for the LPN program. Everyone that attend that school either go there for nursing or education, so the program is very competitive. Another thing about the school is that they have a RN program with SUNY Downstate. You are automatically given a job at that hospital if your in that program.
You can attend there if you want but just keep in mind that you have to keep a 3.8 and have very high marks in everything that you do.
Good luck in finding a school!
I took some pre-reqs at Medgar Evers. Like most CUNY schools, the facilities are not top notch but it's a good learning environment. The professors that I had were always willing to help you if you were having problems. And, I've heard really great things about the nursing program.
Like TriniAngel said, the RN and LPN programs are very competitive. You really have to have top marks in pre-reqs and on the entrance exam.
Also, from what I understand the BSN program is only for people who already have an RN license - it's a bridge program.
Also, it's really not deserted - the building that the nursing program is in is only 1.5 blocks from the President Street subway station. The walk to the Bedford buildings is a little farther from the subway and can be described as somewhat industrial but not that bad.
Good luck with your search!
Medgar Evers isn't deserted, it's one or two blocks away from the train station. Like the others said, it's really competitive and their waiting lists for nursing (LPN or RN) are insane. You have to at least maintain 3.8 which is pretty high in order to not have to wait such a long time to get in. Good luck with everything.
I graduated from Medgar AAS nursing program in 2009..... the program is very very competitive. Medgar AAS/PN nursing programs are excellent for any 1 who want to past the boards on the 1st try. Jus for the record both programs have a 100% past rate for the last 2 years. The area is not deserted....I live in the area.
