I got an email saying:
"please be advised that the job location you are applying for is 2 hours away from your area. If you are still interested, please reply"
I don't know what it means.. anyone? thank you!

I think they are saying, don't apply if you aren't willing to travel that far or move closer. They just don't want to waste their time or yours, by you later saying "it's too long of a commute"

I'd take it as a good sign if I were applying for a job. They want to double check before going on with anything official. Good luck!

Are you sure you want to commute that distance? Are you planning to move closer? They do not want to proceed without you having a clear idea on how much the job will cost in transportation. Not to mention, being fatiqued after work and driving (if that is how to get to/from work).

My interpretation: "We are looking for a long time relationship and we want you to be sure this is something you can be happy with."

I agree with the others. I am currently reviewing applications for a posted position and I can't help but wonder whether I should invest my time in those applicants who live more than an hour away. If someone is not "local," it's one of the first issues I address with them. "Are you prepared to deal with the fact that this job is not near where you live? Are you prepared to move? Are you prepared to deal with a commute that most people could not live with?" I don't want to waste our orientation resources on someone who is not going to stay.
My recommendation to anyone applying for a job that is more than a 45 minutes away from their house is to address the issue up front, in their cover letter. Either say that you are prepared to move closer to the employer -- or say that you are prepared to deal with the long commute. If you don't, your application may be rejected in the first round of consideration -- without even being offered an interview.

I think it means exactly what it says.
