  1. Its real. I have it, and it helps me a lot with my school stuffs. But this alone is not a factor for you to pass a class.
  2. i think 2-3 months for me. funny thing is, they insisted i just had the interview a month ago, whereas im 100% sure its been 2 months ago and i even called them with no call back lol
  3. I would trust my parents/family more than my "friends". In fact, your parents are 100% correct about the BSN route. It is so hard to find a job with an ADN degree, and worst if you have zero experience. Every time I look for job positions, they always put BSN preferred OR required. I'd say go for your BSN and get it done asap. Goodluck!
  4. so... i saw an ad from craigslist, looking for a MA to circulate in cosmetic surgical procedures? can MA do that? i mean is it LEGAL? i spoke to a scrub tech before, she's not a rn nor lpn/lvn, but she said that, she does pre-op, circulate, & rr. so MA's & techs have the same responsibilities as a RN cause they do go for jobs fitted for a RN.... i thought this was weird! correct me if im wrong, but i thought that's not part of their scope of practice. anyway... shed me some light here please. P.S. I meant no offense to techs nor MAs. Just a curious thought in my head as I was taught differently (it is required by LAW that a RN must be present at all times in the OR).
  5. Hi everyone! I have a really silly question. Would it seem like I am unprofessional and/or unprepared if I bring a book to my intern job? I recently just got a job as a surgical nurse. I am starting this week. Now, I graduated last year of June, and since then, I had no experience being in the floor. I'm excited and nervous for my start, but I wanna make sure I review and study as much as I can. When I was in school, I had some opportunities to be in the OR, but only for observations, no action at all for my part. Also, I always remember what my professors told me when I was graduating, "graduation is just a slice of a pie" and that there is so much to learn. I was hoping to read/review/learn more during my down time, aka if I get there early or while traveling. You think its best not bring it as it might scare the facility? or just go for it? thanks everyone!
  6. thank you so much! i will try and see how it goes. if the job opportunity is as an OR nurse, moving out of NYC is not so questionable anymore. lol
  7. really? can i get the website please if you don't mind. thanks!
  8. Thank you so much for your info! Sorry for misreading the OP, I thought it was written as May 2010. LOL
  9. I am looking for an OR position as well. Any ideas how easy or hard to land a position like this as a new grad? Any tips/ideas to become an OR nurse is greatly appreciated. Also, I just had an interview earlier regarding an open position as an OR nurse in a facility. I honestly don't think I'll get the job as I've spoke to one of the applicants after, and she have more than 10 years of experience as an OR nurse under her belt. I just hope by miracle, I get the job though I am really not expecting anything lol. daVinciNurse, can I join the AORN as a student nurse even though I already have my license? I really want to get the extra information/tips I can have. Also, if I do sign up... can I list this membership in the affiliations part of my resume?
  10. I got an email saying: "please be advised that the job location you are applying for is 2 hours away from your area. If you are still interested, please reply" I don't know what it means.. anyone? thank you!
  11. thank you so much! I'll definitely try to sort things out and see which one is more beneficial.
  12. Hi all! I have a question regarding how to endorse license. I graduated June of 2010 and currently have my NY RN license. Due to no job availabilities, I am currently thinking of endorsing my license in CA. I went through the CA BON website, and saw what needs to be done. Now my question is, do I have to apply in person in Cali to endorse my license or can I do it via online and/or mail? Also, how is the job outlook in California for RNs who currently do not possess any previous experience with an ADN level of education?
