1.

250mg = 380mg

5ml xml

250x = 1900

250 250

x = 7.6 ml

2.

500mg = 1890

1ml xml

500x = 1890

500 500

x = 3.78ml (3.8ml)

3.

1 tsp = 3 tsp

5ml xml

x= 15ml

5ml = 15ml

250mg xmg

order (dose desired): amoxicillin 20mg/kg/day po

available (dose on hand): 250mg/5 ml oral solution

child's weight: 42 lbs

weight in kg?___19____

total daily dose?___380____

how much solution will you give?___7.6 ml____

i don't know how to get the solution.

by dimensional analysis (factor label method):

20 mg/1 kg
(dose desired)
x 5 ml/150 mg
(dose on hand)
x 42 pounds/1
(weight of patient)
x 1 kg/2.2 pounds
(conversion factor)
=
7.6 ml
(daily dose to give)

order (dose desired): methylprednisiolone 30mg/kg/q6h iv

available (dose on hand): 500mg/ml injection.

patients weight 140 lb.

weight in kg?_63_(i say 64 pounds)___

q6hr dose?___1890_(1920 mg)____

how much will you give?_____3.8 ml_

i think your conversion of the patient's weight from kilograms to pounds is wrong. when i do the calculation i get:
140 pounds/1 x 1 kg/2.2 pounds = 63.636363 =
64 pounds
(rounded off)

however, i perform that calculation for the amount to give with the dimensional analysis equation in order to get the number of ml to give and come up with this answer:

30 mg/1 kg
(dose desired)
x 1 ml/500 mg
(dose on hand)
x 140 pounds/1
(weight of patient)
x 1 kg/2.2 pounds
(conversion factor)
= 3.8181 =
3.8 ml
(amount to give, rounded off)

order (dose desired): tylenol elixir, 3 tsps po q4h prn temperature over 100.5 degrees

available (dose on hand): 250mg/5 ml elixir.

how many mls will you give?___15 ml___

how many milligrams will the patient receive?__750 mg_

3 teaspoons
(dose desired)
x 5 ml/1 teaspoon
(conversion factor)
=
15 ml
(one dose)

15 ml
(dose to give)
x 250 mg/5 ml
(dose on hand)
=
750 mg
(amount of drug in one dose)
