Massasoit Fall 2017

Hi,

I didn't find a topic on this yet so I figured I'd start one! I recently submitted my application for Massasoit for Fall 2017. Anyone else?? The wait is going to drive me nuts!

Ive been a dental assistant for a few years and am deciding to make a change. I have all of my pre-reqs from before I even went into the dental field, which got me an Associates degree in health science. I have a good GPA and A's and B's in most pre-reqs, but am a little worried because I feel like I don't have the most competitive grades compared to others! Also got an 82 on the TEAS.

Hi Lily,

I was wondering what kind of school supplies you utilized. They sent us a list of things but I noticed a stethoscope wasn't mentioned. Do we need to purchase stethoscopes. Also, what kind of bag did you use or recommend, do we need to bring our books to class?

Stethoscopes are personal preference. They didn't recommend one to us as not to sound like they were endorsing one company over another. My advice, don't go super cheap (the sound will be horrible) but don't go expensive either. (It will get stolen) a fair amount of our class used a Litmann classic II or III. MDF also makes a great scope and has lifetime part replacement =)

Looking for the list of books for the sept evening program anyone? If you would email me? Kerry Berube @ aol . Com PLEASE! I wan to start looking for the books now... or buying off someone! Thank you!!! :)

Would you mind sending me the name of the books I can't find a book list... bookstore still says pending.

The list most likely won't be available until end of July/ early August. You will need a fundamentals book, math calculations, care plans, and nursing diagnosis.... Maureen is probably trying to determine which to go with, and decide if they wanted to make all programs the same. (We had different books than the day and not as many) Just keep checking the bookstore online

FALL 2017 EVENING BOOK LIST:

9780323561129 - NURS 212 I-E

9780323265379 - PHYSICAL EXAM.+HEALTH..POCKET COMP.

9780323321907 - LEHNE'S PHARMACOLOGY F/NURSING CARE

9780323327404 - FUND.OF NURSING

9780323222051 - MOSBY'S DICT.OF MED.,NURS.+HLTH.PROF. By MOSBY

9780323396448 - FUND.OF NURSING-STD.GDE.

9780323525091 - SAUNDERS NURSING DRUG HANDBOOK 2018

9780323398657 - SHERPATH F/NURSING FUNDAMENTALS-ACCESS

This is a bundle package that costs around $985 at the bookstore. I highly suggest renting anything you can as it will be cheaper. (Unless you really want to keep them)

I hate to say it but some won't be used and it stinks that you are required to get them.

Anyhow, best of luck!!

#1: I think this might be the ATI access charge

#2-#7: can be rented at bookrenter.com for a total of $117.94

#8: I think this access code has to be bought at the bookstore

For this semester, we only kept the Fundamentals book, Pharmacology book, and Drug book..... the rest wasn't really utilized.

FYI:

The original list that Maureen submitted to the bookstore was supposed to be for the LPN-RN program and not evening generics... the new list is now available on the bookstore website.

Hey all. To any of you evening program people, add all of the books onto an Amazon wish list. Almost all of them are there for a lesser price than the bookstore. The bookstore will match the Amazon price as long as it is sold by Amazon if you'd prefer to pick them up in person. There have been some really good price drops for some of the books on Amazon. I went to the bookstore to purchase my uniform and name tag and they were just putting out all of the books so I'd give it another week if you want to go in person to the store. See you all in the fall!

*Edit to add: Use smile . amazon . com when you buy your books if you use Amazon. They donate a small portion to charity of your choice. Every little bit helps and with the hundreds we will spend it can add up for them :)

Good afternoon! I just passed my NCLEX PN and want to apply for the LPN-RN bridge and noticed you must take the TEAS, can suggest anything to help me prepare for the TEAS. Unlike Massasoit, at Quincy LPN's are exempt from taking the TEAS but the tuition is more. Thank you in advance

This is kind of late, but has anyone done the castle branch thing yet? Im really lost with it

Don't worry. This is the first year using Castle branch. They are a mess. Anything that they deny, Maureen will override... Welcome to the first of 3 years of disorganization!! =(

Just make sure that you have ALL vaccinations or proof of titer, and get those flu vaccines ASAP or you cannot begin clinicals. (This is not so much a school thing but a site thing, the sites are VERY strict on this policy)

Much luck to you all!!
