I talked to the Grand Canyon Advisor at Glendale Community, he told me that my scores are good and should apply. When I talked to the Glendale Community advisor they told me they do not accept plus or minus grades which lowered my GPA immensely. I'm trying not to get discouraged but as it stands right now my GPA for GCU is 3.28 and Maricopa sees it as a 2.88. I took the HESI exam and received an 88% Eng and 94% Math, which I am retaking to raise my Eng score. Even with that, my Maricopa score will only reach 79/80. My question is how do the two schools communicate on something like this? Also, I am active duty military, I heard that they usually hold seats for the military, does anyone know if this is true?

I am sorry to hear they lowered the GPA its like they are trying to make it harder to get in. I am in the same boat with the HESI and trying to up my points. do you know if they only take the points from one test or will they take the highest score from two passing test? like i doubt i would get higher than 94 on the math but i want to raise my english.
I know that other programs DO hold seats for military im sure nursing is the same because on the application it asks if in the military or veteran.
Good luck to you! im applying to mcc with ASU
They only use the one test, trust me, I asked lol. I finally got an answer and the information I received from the community college is wrong. As it was explained to me, the university has final say on GPA; the community college will use the ruberic score from the university.

Each university sets their own minimum GPA. However, it is the community college that decides whether to give you a seat on their course or not.
For example, say ASU minimum GPA is 3.5 and you have a 3.6, and you applied to GCC/ASU, if GCC offers you a place then you are guaranteed a place with ASU because you exceed their GPA. So, once you get into the CC you can be assured you have a seat with your chosen university (as long as your GPA meets or exceeds their set GPA minimum).
However, you will only get a place with ASU (in the example above) if you are offered a place with GCC. If GCC says no, then you would not get a place with ASU, despite exceeding their minimum GPA.
I agree though - I wish the Universities and the nursing advisors could get it together! It seems they are all over the place, and if you go to different colleges you get different answers too. Ugh! It's so frustrating as a student!!

Hi there,
I submitted my app (GCU) for the upcoming cohort, Fall? 2020 back in December. Just wondering if anyone knows when we will get responses. I hate this waiting game.
Also, I just submitted the paper app to my advisor at GCC, is there anything else we are supposed to do? Is there an online app?? I'm so nervous that they are going to say I didn;t submit my app or something.

Hi all !! Does anyone know anything on CGCC's acceptance application scores?? How high or low? What is the range of application scores I should get for CGCC
HI ALL! My name is Destinie! I applied to CGCC, MCC, Phoenix (in that order) with a 3.8 GPA, 84 English Hesi, 92 Math Hesi, and OVERALL APP SCORE: 82! I barely came accross this website and I LOVE IT! The community on here is so informational and supportive. Yall are awesome! I spent all last night reading everything. I am currently getting my associates right now to add more points to my application incase I do not get in the first time. (I accidently calculated my points wrong, I thought it was 80 until I did the math) I run a nursing instagram @lifeofdestinie if anyone wants to follow my journey of being a cna and applying!

Hi all! I don’t have all my scores in front of me, but I know my overall score is 79.5. Applied to GCC, PC, and Estrella. This is my second go around in applying. Last time was an 78. Advisor at GCC said she knows the lowest they usually take is 80, but has known PC and Estrella to take 79’s. I have a friend who was waitlisted at GCC with right at 80, and got in last second, as many people decline their offers. Sooo fingers crossed. Good luck everyone!!
