I am wondering if anyone has worked for Manor Care. If you have, how are employees treated? Benefits? Pay? PT0? Do they have frequent changes in administration? Does corporate run things or is more left up to the indivual home? Any answer will be appreciated. I haven't had much luck with internet searches. Thanks in advance.

I have had friends who worked there and loved it and others who said it was horrible.

Manor care is a national chain, in Pittsburgh area they are on provisional licenses because of poor staffing, I imagine it would be a nightmare to work there.

Manor Care changed their name in South Carolina to Heartland. Jokingly refered to as Heartless. Lots of problems at one facility. VA pulled their contract with them as well as all their resident
There are Manor Care and Heartland facilities here in this area. Big player.

I worked at our local Manor Care facility about 10 years ago, so my point of view may not be up-to-date, but I enjoyed my experience there. We had one Admin, and two DONs the 2 years I worked there. PTOs were adequate, I also benefited from their 401(k) program. The way the residents are treated are above average. I frequently am suggesting to other people that this would be a good place to send a geriatric who needs a LTC environment.
Good luck

I would take a try it before you buy it approach. Go in as an agency nurse to see how the facility is. In general I have found that the "chains" are not really that good to work for. The pay and benifits are better with a larger company but the work loads and paperwork are heavy and there is a lot of turn over.and staff shortages as a result.
