I'm new to nursing. I start my job in OB next month. I'm interested in purchasing malpractice insurance, but I have no idea where to start looking. Any recommendations? BTW, I'm in Florida.
Thanks

I just read a thread on this the other day. Check it out, if you haven't already done so.

Look up NSO.
They have good rates and coverage.

For Florida or any state or professional association, you can take advantage of the discounts offered through their recommendations.
When searching for insurance, make sure they will also represent you at a BON hearing and will cover incidents that happened while you were covered but legal action was taken later and your policy may have not been renewed.

ANA has a plan (www.nursingworld.org)
I bought mine thru my auto insurance agent. It is just another type of Liability Insurance. I pay $80/yr

NSO. Could have purchased it through my insurance company USAA, but went through NSO directly. 99$ for a year of the highest coverage they offer.

The other specialty nursing Liability Insurance company that gets mentioned most often, beside NSO, is Marsh (http://www.proliability.com).
