Male Nurses?

Hey Everyone!

I just started the Program for Darton College..now my boyfriend is interested in doing the same. I'm just wondering if males get into the programs easier than females? His GPA isn't that great...however, i've heard that guys are accepted with lower GPA's?

first of all, congrats! on your acceptance to the nursing program:yeah:. in regards to male nurses getting into the program with lower gpa's i can't speak for darton college. however, all of the colleges & universities which rotate in our facility are equal opportunity; without any preferences on gender race or color. seriously, this is the first time i have ever heard of such practice. wishing you and your loved one the very best in all of your future endeavors...ciao~

It may be true. With a male nurse you not only get a nurse, you get a strong back. Someone that can transfer patients easier.I know when I went in. I didn't have to take the entrance exam. They were so happy to get a male. When I applied to the Psych hospital. They just asked if I was a veteran. When I said I was. The DON said "You got a job." But times have changed.

Still your boyfriend might get a few Brownie Points for being a male.

I do not think males get in easier. I know when I got into nursing school a woman that did not get in made that comment to me. I was offended because a) my GPA was higher than hers and b) I worked my butt off to get into nursing school.

Plus, as I looked around the class, I only saw a handful of guys. I know more than that applied. So, I guess it didn't help them, or maybe I am just more manly :)
