Hello There All Nurses,
Im about to graduate LVN school and i've already taken all or most of my pre-reqs for the RN programs. I know some programs require different pre-reqs but i have Psych, Anatomy, Phys, Micro, Sociology out of the way. I want to go into a bridge program asap. Can anyone give me any insight on what the school schedules are like for the Rn bridge programs in Southern California. The reason why i ask is because when i start job hunting i need to know if i can take 12 hour shifts or just 8 because 12 hour shifts might conflict with school schedules. Im looking to get my ASN first then my BSN later. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so Much,

Cypress college has a good LVN to RN program. All u have to do is pass a clinical test which is giving an IM injection, Trach care, Inserting a foley and I forgot what else. Since you just finished LVN school they dont make u take a written test. After u pass the clinical test to get into the program you take a bridge class then start on the 3rd semester of RN school. Unfortunately you only get 2 tries, and if you dont pass you can't get into the third semester.
Schedules are 3-4 days a weeek 8 hours days in the evening or days... sorry i didnt read your whole post. You will do better with a part time 12 hour shift.... I was wable to do RN school and work 3 12 hour shifts a week. 3 12 hour shifts a week is considered full time.. 8 hours would require you less days off...

When do you take the NCLEX PN? Because you will have missed most of the deadlines for lvn-rn bridges in socal after march.

I would suggest in your situation to work 12hr shift on weekends or if you can, do 16hr shifts. So that you'll have time for your classes, clinical, and study time. And believe me, you'll be needing ALOT of study time. This is how I got through nursing school. It wasn't easy, but its doable
Thanks so much for everyone's response.. I think i'm going to try the 3 12's and see how that works out.. I need to do whatever i can to get my RN. I want to specialize n Trauma nursing and I can't go to far as an LVN iin a hospital. Thanks for everything. :)

cypress requires all those skills? wow it's like school all over for me again.
i remember doing those in ROP. we would have skills testing. i had to do random different skills for each skills testing. (2 skills)
for example : one regular skills and one aseptic skills. i remember being nervous before skills day and having to memorize each skills (i think there was about 10 skills).
