Are you speaking of the Unitek program? That is the range of their costs.

At the community college level the costs are much less for the program.

im talkin about bay area college of nursing.. is that the cost of uniteks program?

There is really an LVN to RN program that is only 8 months long, but costs 44 thousand dollars?

That's insane.

yess i mean do u think its reasonable?

i hate these stupid schools. its obvious that they're just in it for the money and it really becomes clear when you enroll with them. the teachers dont have any teaching background and the schools keep calling you to remind you of the payments... come on... seriously... atleast pretend to be professional.

With that said and done- these rip off schools would be my last resort. Try going to a CC or CSU first. Then if you have to, make sure you go to the school with the highest passing rate

Best of luck! =o)

I believe that Long Beach City College has/had a "1+1" program for LVN to RN. At least they did when I live in Long Beach. We had LVNs where I worked who had attended this program, and earned thier RN ADN with this program.

1+ 1 just means that LVNs are completing the 2nd year school work to become RNs. I think that is what it means. That is what the program was called when I lived in California. We had several LVNs at the hospital where I worked who completed the program to become RNs.

I left California in 1989, and I don't know if they changed the program, or modified it in any way. Your best bet is to contact the school, and ask them what they are requiring now for admission.

im kinda confused can you tell me more about this 1+1?

The 1+1 program, was a completer program for LVNs to complete the school work to earn an ADN RN degree. It was/is a program that is part of Long Beach City College in California. They have an ADN program for an initial RN degree, and added this program for LVNs to become RNs. I believe that they added it because LVNs are restricted in California, and there are not alot of places anymore that hire LVNs. Alot of LVNs wanted to earn an RN degree because they had difficulty finding employment. Many hospitals have gotten rid of their LVNs. That is all I know about it. I left California in 1989.

no no no, there are more programs that are bridge LVN-RN that dont cost that much! I thought about doing that route but changed my mind cause thats how I did my LVN and with interest Im paying around close to $30k, I dont like that idea, but the straight RN programs out here have a long wait list and most are by lottery although I have heard they may change that and go back to doing priority points which I think is the best way to go anyway (means they calculate your GPA plus working exp. and total points gives you number, higher number gets into program) just google it, the one Im applying to next Jan09 is around 7-8,000. Besides there isnt much difference with the time... average bridge LVN_RN is 8-12mths. good luck ...
