Cant you find a place to hire graduates, and you can work as a GN

When I graduated from Nursing school, I worked as a GVN until I took the NCLEX and got my license. Does CA not do that???

I would try to get a job as a GVN/GPN first! If not, call a few places and see if you can get hired! You can challenge the cert test. I was going to do it myself but I ended up getting an early test date. Hope this helps!

Not sure how it works in other states, but CA gives you a 6 month temporary work permit upon graduation from an accredited LVN program. This is usually enough time to pass your test, however if you fail the NCLEX-PN, your permit is void.

I don't know if your school does this. But at my school...... we could ask our DON for the CNA papers(to take the CNA exam). After we fill those out and pay, the DON would send them for us w/ a letter saying that we did all of the required CNA clinicals. If you don't want to do CNA, you could get a permit.... but you would need a good reason for not taking the exam in 6 months.

I guess you can ask your school if they can arrange it, but I wouldn't be surprized that you became a nurse before you were able to work as a CNA.
