Hi,
I am a nursing student and I am having difficulty hearing lung sounds with my stethescope. I am listening in the correct spots but I always feel like I just hear the actual sound they make with thier mouth when they take the deep breaths. Does anyone have any advice please? Thanks!

Don't worry, that's what your supposed to hear. You have to know normal to recognize abnornal. When you have abnormal you will know it.

If you feel like you're not hearing what you are supposed to (and you should hear clear breath sounds even in a "normal" lung), ask your instructor or another classmate if you may use their scope to see if you can hear any difference. Regardless of what some people will tell you about buying any scope that's cheap to get you through school, if you have anything less than perfect hearing you might find that an upgrade would be helpful to you even if you have to buy a used one off e-bay or something.
