LPNs Some input PLEASE How do you find the state to work in?

Published

I am looking for some input from fellow LPNs Please! I'm an LPN currently licensed and working in the state of Massachusetts. The cost of living here is making it pretty impossible to support my family on my salary (I make 46000 a year).

I am hoping to make a major change. and I've heard Florida is a good place for nurses to work. Is this true?? How do you find it financially? Are you able to support yourselves somewhat comfortably? Would love to go back to school for my RN but that will be at least a year away before I can begin. Any input would be greatly appreciated

There are a bunch of threads here about employment and working conditions in FL; have you taken a look? I grew up in FL, left the first chance I got, and would never consider going back.

Why is that? No I didn't look for other threads I honestly never thought to,

INDIANA!

Plenty of jobs- low cost of living. I live in a 1600sf home, 11 years old in a nice subdivision. Purchase price $126k.

How is the salary range compared to cost of living?? I never thought of indiana, hmmmm

I am originally from CT, moved to Florida about 6 years ago, became an LPN while there. I lived and worked in Orlando. The cost of living in Orlando is on the rise. I was paid $18/hr. I left Orlando to move back to CT and I'm making almost double what I was.

Thanks Everyone. Looks like I'm not gonna be looking at Florida. Guess I'll figure something else out

I know more than a few single mom LPNs who are homeowners in my subdivision. I don't know hourly rates as I'm in academia now.
