There are no LPN's in the UK just RN's. We used to have 2 levels of training but that was phased out years ago so although there are still some Enrolled nurses out there there is not many.
It would be unlikely that your LPN qualification would be recognised at all by the NMC as to register you must reach the practice and education requirements and this can only be done with a 3 year training. Additionally gaining working visas would be almost impossible so even if you were able to register to practice you'd be unable to work because of tightening immigration laws.
As far as supplimenting your training you would need to undertake the full RN training and you would be unlikely to get a place on the courses as they are allocated to UK students and usually have a very long waiting list. These courses are supplimented by a bursary from the government which you would not be eligable for because your not a UK national. I don't think that there are any UK universities that accept International students onto their nurse training.
Sorry

NMC actually state that they will not accept LPN training in the booklet. Here is the link http://www.nmc-uk.org/aFrameDisplay.aspx?DocumentID=4649 and page 11 gives the explanation.

They do, but there are very, very few. UWE in Bristol is one that lets you pay international student fees, but most take the stance that, if you don't qualify for the bursary, they won't even consider you. I think you could probably count on one hand the universities that accept international students on that basis and not require bursary eligibility.
I guess I would have to wait till I do my RN and then maybe move there because I have to move there for my brother and sisters because my mother just passed away and they dont have any one els but me to take care of them. But I would have to find out what I could do to live there
NurseSuad do you have UK citizenship?
No I dont have UK citizenship, but they do and they dont have
anyone but me to take care of them so I dont know wha I will do about them.
If they are UK citizens it is worth contacting the Borders agency to see what is available for you, as you would be a main carer for them. It sounds like exceptional compassionate circumstances if there is nobody else who can care for them in the UK
Thanx
Wow have you been a nurse for 20 years?
my mom always wanted me to be an RN but now that
she has passed away I dont know what I will do. I have so many things going through my mind, the two people who wanted me to be a nurse are gone now, I have 3 kids and I have a brother and 2 sis to take care of now....
Oh sweetie, I am so sorry, you must be so stressed about this all. How old are your brother and sister? Contact the borders agency and discuss what you need with them.
and yes I have been a nurse for 20 years, makes me feel really old saying that, in fact I started nursing September 1988, I never wanted to be a nurse but fell into it because my mother knew a nurse tutor and there was a course who had lost half of it's students so I got roped into it. I have loved every single minute of it
I would love to be there one day to be a nurse a long time
My younger sis is 15,17, brother is 20.
I am going to talk to them, thanx again
Let us know how things turn out please.
And you will at some time be able to look at the new docs out of med school, tut and say nope not that way, let me show you, and when they look at you gratefully and say I'd never had thought of that you will be able to say, well I've been doing this for 20 years. Just don't give up hope or your dream
