Hello, MY question is for anyone who has done the online program to go from lpn to rn I believe its through excelsier or the college network I just need information I am seriously considering it because I dont have time for a classroom setting I just dont want to get involved in something that is not going to happen so I guess I am looking for verification that this is a real possibility. thanks

This question comes up EVERYDAY in AllNurses...have you tried using the search engine within Allnurses for more info or gone to the Distance Learning forum before posting this question? There is tons of info there.

There are programs out there and states out there that recognize online programs. You must meet certain requirements (be a LPN, Paramedic, or Military taught personnel) to enroll in these programs and they require self determination to get through. Check to see what your state requires, then ask yourself if you can take the chance of going through an online program and not being licensed in your state. Can you tell I am from Georgia?
Other states have restrictions, such as, you must perform clinical rotations, or be a LPN. Just know you take the chance of someone passing a bill to make all of your hardwork worthless.
I will continue with my online classes and either move out-of-state or work for the federal government (VA hospital, prisons, etc). The federal government recognizes a RN license from any state for what it is--a RN license. Noone will just hand you a RN license. A lot of studying, clinical hours, schedule juggling, sweat, tears and great patients are a part of the journey. And we are better nurses because of it!
Best of luck to you!
