Does anyone know of the LPN program through Everest in Grand Rapids, MI and if it is a good school of choice? Also I am having a difficult time finding out the tuition unless I make an appointment to go to the college and interview with them. Thanks!!

I graduated from Everest in April. It's a good program, but expensive. That said, the cost is all-inclusive. The only things I had to pay for out-of-pocket were school supplies (notebooks, pens, file cards, etc.), CPR class, and my TB test. You get your books, uniforms, a stethoscope, and your fees are paid for fingerprinting and background checks for clinical sites, and the NCLEX-PN. I paid about $25,000--it's probably a bit higher now. It was worth it to be licensed and working as an LPN in a year, when I still had at least 4 years on the GRCC RN waiting list.
Thank you so much for your reply! Have you found a job yet? I have been working as a medical transcriptionist and they closed down our department. Technology has taken over, and transcription is a dying field. Looking to find a new career without putting in a lot of time in school. (I am 52 and starting over!)
Again, thank you for your reply.
I just started this week as a LTC Unit Manager. I also spent 10 weeks as a camp nurse this summer. Don't worry about your age--I had a classmate whose first great-grandchild was born halfway through the program!
LOL...feeling much better about the age thing now! Thank you so much for the info! Wishing you the best!

Hi teeniebert! My name is Katie and i am currently at a community college taking prereqs for the nursing program and I am also all signed up at everest for the lpn program, but i am very nervous about going there and cant decide whether i should finish out at cc or go to everest and get it done really fast, but have 20k in student loans. It would be awesome to talk to you.
Hi faithful!
I am thinking about going to everest, but i am very afraid of the cost. I currently go to a community college and I find it very competitive and I have to obtain the highest gpa to get a spot in the nursing program and it makes me very afraid! Please let me know what youplan to do!
Also, there are many lpn jobs on this side of michigan, how is it over on the grand rapids side?
Hi, Lovebug2885!
There are many jobs for LPNs in the GR area. Currently on unemployment and will sell my house. Engaged to a man in Indy so I am now thinking I will seek schooling there.
Everest will be a good alternative if you don't get accepted at your community college. It is only an 11 month course. So if you look at it like that, not too bad because while others are still in school, you will be done and making $$. All in your perspective!
Wishing you the very best in your endeavors!

Katie,
I talked to you awhile back. I have been accepted to the LPN program starting in Jan. (southfield). Have you decided if you are going there?
