LPN classes are full until Aug 08..

Published

So I am taking the Patient care tech curriculum which consists of phlebotomy ,EKG tech, nurses aide, home health aide, billing , coding, transcription, nutrition dietetic, health unit coordinator, medical term, and A&P classes, they also offer job search skills w/ this class, help w/ resume etc.

What do you think..is is worth it or not? In the real world will I be using these things..I know phlebotomy I will for sure, I would love to work in a hospital as a phlebotomist but I am hoping it will all add up to great experience for Aug of 08s LPN class. Did I mention that my classes are all paid for?!! My financial aide will pay for it all including books since it's not as expensive as the LPN course itself, there is enough to go around for that course..I am so excited!

Any input would be appreciated.

the ekg training will definitly help... i graduated from lvn school, like many other lvn's, with no skills on how to use the EKG...i had to learn fast working in the ER.

I think you definitely will be learning plenty of valuable skills that will help in the future. Good luck in all that you do!

EKG and phlebotomy are great skills to know. They didn't teach me that in LPN school, either, but I found a place that will give a three day course in EKG interpetation, and what I think is great is that because the job doesn't demand that I know the skill, I have time to review them, confer with other nurses and then, surprize them. I was a phlebotomist for 10 years (in fact, I still recertify myself) and it helps with starting IV lines. The nutrition and anatomy classes will give you a head's up for what you will begin learning in school, so, you are on the right path.
