lots of questions

i am just starting to think about traveling. we have never had a traveler in my unit, so i don't know very much about it. i think i would like to travel, but i also have some :angryfire burning questions about it.

i guess it varies from company to company, but

when you get an assignment with housing, does your housing start the same day as your assignment, or can they let you have a day to move in before hand?

is the housing ever dodgy, or unsafe?

do you get any sort of short orientation to the unit before you start?

do you find it difficult to change from place to place, do the different practices or regulations get confusing?

What kind of questions should i ask the hospital when they call about the positions?

anything else at all i need to know. thanx heaps

Housing using starts a couple of days before your assignment, or it can be just the day before. Depends on where you are going and your company, and when the apt is available.

I have been very happy with every apt that my agency has palced me in, but again, it depends on your agency. Some have not been happy with their apts that I have worked with from other companies.

Orientation usually consisits of where things are, and the paperwork/computer, etc. You may get a couple of days with a preceptor, but again that depends on the type of unit and the types of patients.

Have you ever done any type of agency work at all in the past? If not, you may want to try that in your home area and see how comfortable you are with it first.
