looking to transfer school

hello... i am a new poster in this forum. in the past i have found tons of help reading through the forums here so i thought it's time to ask some questions to the ever helpful members of this forum.

i am currently a 3rd year nursing student. this is my second course and i am looking into transferring to another school. does anybody know a nursing school who might take transferees at this level? i am currently taking medical surgical nursing, and from what i have learned from other students in my school, technically we only need just 1 more semester to finish, and that is the psych nursing part as well as musculo skeletal or ortho nursing part. however in the school where i am currently enrolled, they have us enrolling for another semester for the review and nursing leadership alone. even one of our professors told us that the last semester was just for the review and what we call course audit. i heard that st. rita in tondo is taking in a lot of my fellow schoolmates. i would like to know if anybody else can recommend another school that has good affiliations and one where professors actually teach. i know that a nursing student's success depends on how well one takes the studying seriously but i still believe that when we enroll we should actually be getting lecture times from our professors.

any suggestion from posters in this forum will be greatly appreciated.

so you are currently in your third year. are you currently studying ncm 103, or ncm 104? normally at this semester you will be studying med.surg nsg, ortho, and psychiatric nursing. is this the regular semester for second courser like you? if you are supposed to be taking nursing leadership and management, then it should be like your ncm 105. i find this class very interesting and it is not hard. if you have only one semester to go, i think you should stick with that, because in other school, they have other classes you need to take before you graduate..you will end up taking more classes, and will take longer to graduate from nsg. school. is the review class you are talking about was a part of the curriculum? or is it for nle? i remember my entire class has to go to a review center on weekends.but not everybody did ( including me). maybe you need to clarify that from your registrar just to be sure.

Actually currently at ncm 202 which in other schools is equivalent to 102 i believe, this is medical surgical. 204 will be ortho and psych nursing. 203 in my school is called completion or extra hours of RLE which I believe could be good. So it seems some of my classmate was misinformed when they were told the end of the course is psych. as 205 is nursing leadership & management. Revalida which is a reevaluation of clinical skills and review. I just find it horrendous that they will force us to take review classes when the reviewers are the same lazy professors we had before. I think mostly that is my concern. they tell us review for the National Licensure is included but we end up paying for something we are not getting anything out of. But I suppose I have already started in this school and will just stick with out and try to learn as much as I can and study as much as I can without relying on our teachers.

when i was still a student, i was really a lot worried about the clinical exposure that i get whenever we're on duty. But now that i'm already a nurse, i'm surprised to see a familiar view.. Student nurses on the lounge, just discussing things, taking the vital signs, giving p.o. meds, then going out for almost an hour break... This scenario is ALMOST d same for all student nurses i've seen so far, wherever school they're from.

Just do your best, and dont think about a lot of things that will only upset you. Good luck!

hmmmm....how come we never had an hour break? and never allowed to hang out in the lounge? first, our instructor line us up like soldiers in the hallway, check our uniforms, making sure we look professional and all, then we get a report from the other student nurses from previous shift, ( to me was the nerve wracking experience.....) we do take vital signs, give p.o. meds, carry out doctor's order, help the rns to make beds, tag along with an rn to assist her with anything, we monitor ivs, and we give teachings to the patients..we also give bedbaths, clean the patients if they had an "accident" ( yes, it happened a lot on our shift )..on our free time, we study we have drug study, or make our ncps, or work on our case presentation...if ever we have downtime, our clinical instructors gives us either a report, a lecture, or quiz, we do our charting, and our instructor checks it, over and over again before it can be documented on the patient's chart....yet, at the end of the day, we still have homework assignments to do.. the only time we had a chitchat was during our commute to and from our clinical duties...ahh, fond memories.. i miss those days!
