Hello all! I am looking for a nursing program in Oregon or Washington state that I do not have to be put on a wait list to get in to. I know there are merit based programs, but I am specifically looking for guarenteed admission that only requires your pre-requisites and an accumulative GPA. I understand they will be more expensive so price is not really the issue, although I would like to try and stay under $32,000 a year.
All information is greatly appreciated!

I know my previous school in WA (Olympic College) didn't have wait list and was based off Pre Req GPA and you got more points for CO Reqs you did as well. But anything under a 3.8 you didn't have much of a chance to get in. You did get a roll over point for each time you applied. Anyway, that is the only school I know the details on (if things haven't changed)
Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, I doubt I can achieve a 3.8 GPA...
But your information was helpful :) Thanks!
Anyone else? I am all ears!

What is your GPA? If it is low, combined with your other requirements, this is a pretty tall order. There are schools out there you can get in with a 3.3 or so but most of them require an entrance test to help determine aptitude etc. Are you looking for RN or for LPN?
Hello and thank you for the response! So far I have only taken my English class and my Communications class, I received an A in both classes. I am going to start my biology pre-requisite classes this summer. I dont want to overload myself, so I am going to take one biology class per semester. So it should take me three semesters, including summer, to finish them. I know I can for sure get at least a 3.0 GPA, if not higher. I am smart, I just dont see myself getting a 3.8...
Any other information is greatly appreciated and feel free to ask any questions!

Hey have you checked out Washington State University. They accept students twice a year. Transfer GPA minimum is 2.8 and there is an interview that you would have to go to in Spokane if you are chosen. There is 3 different locations; Spokane accepts about 150 students, Tri-Cities about 20 twice a year, and Yakima about 20 twice a year. I just graduated in December from this one and it is a great program but must warn you it is an accelerated program which means you would have your BSN at the same time you graduate. Let me know if you are interested at [email protected]

If you do all your prereqs at Seattle University (usually means you're starting as a college freshman and do your prereqs along with your other core classes for your bachelor's), then you are guaranteed a slot in the nursing courses. It's a lot more expensive to do things this way, but if you're looking for guarantees, there you go.
